Inspired by the viral sensation from Calic Bagel in Los Angeles, these 50-Garlic Clove Pizza Bagels pack a punch of flavor. Stuffed with garlic-infused cream cheese and soaked in garlic butter, each bagel is topped with melted Italian cheese and mini pepperonis. Baked until golden brown, these bagels are perfect for garlic lovers. Ready in just 30 minutes, they make a tasty option for any occasion. Serve with marinara for dipping if you wish!

Ingredients for 6 servings

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 50 cloves garlic, minced, divided
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • ¼ cup avocado oil
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 6 28-ounce cans everything bagel
  • 2 cups shredded italian cheese blend
  • ½ cup mini pepperoni
  • marinara sauce, for serving

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 400˚F (200˚C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make garlic butter: Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the half of the minced garlic and cook until fragrant and softened, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the dried basil and a small pinch of salt.
  3. Make garlic cream cheese: Add the avocado oil to a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the remaining minced garlic and cook until golden brown and crunchy, about 5 minutes. Be careful not to let it burn. Transfer the cooked garlic to a paper towel-lined plate and blot to remove any excess oil.
  4. Transfer the cooked garlic to a mixing bowl with the cream cheese. Stir together until evenly combined then transfer to a piping bag and cut off the tip. Set aside.
  5. Assemble bagels: Make 8 cuts halfway through each bagel, without cutting all the way through. Remove every other piece of the bagel. Pipe the softened garlic cream cheese into the open slots. Repeat with remaining bagels and cream cheese.
  6. Dip each bagel into the garlic butter mixture, making sure each one is generously coated. Place on the prepared baking sheet then top with shredded cheese and pepperoni.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and toasted.
  8. Serve with marinara for dipping.
